Rescuing Hope: Welcoming Cookie from Lebanon to France

Returning to France always brings its share of responsibilities, but this time, it came with an extraordinary mission. I was entrusted with bringing a rescue dog, Cookie, from the Bekaa Shelter in Lebanon. This shelter is home to over 300 dogs, all seeking safety and love in a world where they have faced immense challenges.

Lebanon, as you may know, isn’t the easiest place for dogs. Even in times of peace, stray animals face numerous threats, from neglect to outright danger. And then there is also war. With the ongoing conflicts, the situation has grown even more dire.

Finding travel companions to help these dogs reach their forever homes outside of Lebanon has become increasingly difficult.

That’s why the work of Bekaa Shelter is so crucial. They are a beacon of hope for these dogs, offering them a safe haven and tirelessly working to find them homes where they can thrive.

This time, I was honored to bring Cookie into our family. She’s a beautiful soul, full of life and love despite her past hardships. The best part? Raj, our resident dog, has already taken a liking to her. Watching them together, it’s clear that Cookie has found a new friend in him. My hope is that she will be happy with us here in France, where she can finally experience the peace and love she deserves.

Rescuing a dog is more than just giving them a home. It’s about offering them a second chance at life, filled with care, joy, and the security they have long been denied. Cookie’s journey from Lebanon to our home in L’Hérault, France, is a testament to the power of compassion and the incredible work of shelters like Bekaa.
